DR JART CERAMIDIN BODY OIL REVIEW

KATHERINE SPOWART on FEBRUARY 17, 2020

Dr. Jart Ceramidin skincare has become a firm favorite collection of mine for its ability to soothe, moisturize and protect my skin’s natural barrier. When I saw that there was also a Ceramidin Body Oil, I pounced! Here are my thoughts after months of use over the winter period.

BRAND BACKGROUND

Dr. Jart is a huge Korean beauty company, now also firmly planted in the US and sold in Sephora. You can find their products extremely easily both domestically in Korea and internationally, with prices mid to high range. They do everything from makeup to skincare to body care, and their flagship store in Garosugil is so fun to explore the brand’s concepts! If you ever get a chance to visit, I highly recommend it because they’re always switching out installations.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

The product is quite a straight-forward one. It’s described as “lightweight body nourishment” and contains a blend of ceramides and oils within the ingredients.  It should be applied to the body after showering and should soften and moisturize the skin.

Full ingredients via Nordstrom:

ethylhexyl palmitate, ceramide np, ceramide ns, ceramide ap, ceramide as, ceramide eop, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, curcuma xanthorrhiza root extract, citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamot) fruit oil, pelargonium graveolens flower oil, melia azadirachta flower extract, melia azadirachta leaf extract, salvia officinalis (sage) oil, corallina officinalis extract, melia azadirachta bark extract, pogostemon cablin oil, moringa oleifera seed oil, ocimum sanctum leaf extract, glycerin, water, dipropylene glycol, hydrogenated lecithin, cetyl-pg hydroxyethyl palmitamide, propanediol, glyceryl stearate, sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans, sodium hyaluronate, benzyl glycol, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, cholesterol, ethylhexylglycerin, hyaluronic acid, raspberry ketone

PACKAGING

The packaging is decent. It’s in a large, squared, pump bottle and it dispenses a good amount of oil from one pump. Many say it is reminiscent of Drunk Elephant, and I admit it is!  My only slight improvement would be for the nozzle to have more ability to be pushed into the hand without picking up the bottle. If I just hold my hand under the pump, it’s quite hard to position it so that the oil goes straight into my palm without dripping. That’s a very picky critique but it would improve the overall packaging in my opinion!

TEXTURE & SCENT

The scent is absolutely delightful. It’s the perfect blend of citrus-herbal and the entire Ceramidin line has the same scent. Scent preferences are down to personal taste, but I definitely want my body care products to be a sensory experience and so this performs perfectly in that category! It makes the product feel luxurious and increases my enjoyment of using the oil. I have noticed that the scent has faded over time and is much more subtle than when I first opened the product.

The texture is much more lightweight than many body oils I’ve tried. However, this doesn’t detract from its ability to thoroughly moisturize and soften the skin. It slides onto the skin and very quickly absorbs, which is a huge plus! Most oils stay on the surface for a while or create a greasy residue. This does not, which means I tend to use it more frequently than I otherwise would with a typical body oil.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

This is one of the best body care products I’ve ever tried. I get extremely itchy skin on my legs and arms which becomes worse in the dry weather of winter. Using oil is essential and this Dr Jart oil makes it easy because it’s so quick-absorbing and works excellently. My skin feels instantly nourished and the moisture lasts throughout the day. When used consistently, the rough skin and keratosis pilaris I have on my arms and legs become considerably softer.

I’d be lying if I said the scent and texture didn’t play a huge role in my love for this oil. The scent creates the experience I need from a body care product in order to maintain the routine. I have a habit of neglecting my body care, so owning a product that I actually love using makes a big difference in how often I reach for it and care for my skin. Because the lightweight texture means the oil absorbs quickly, I’m even slathering it on in the mornings when I’m in a rush because there’s not much of a wait time before I’m able to get dressed.

Overall, I would 100% repurchase. The price is around $22 and considering the amount of product in the bottle plus the fabulous results, I think it’s one of the best body care options on the market!
